Bierkeller are celebrating the end of the Super League with music, games, prizes and charity fundraising!
The Rugby Super League final is the perfect setting for a Rugby Funday! On Saturday 14th October, Bierkeller will be bringing you the big match along with plenty of fun with music, game, prizes, and giveaways, all in aid of the Rob Burrow Foundation…
Rob Burrow 🏉
Former Rugby League champion and inspiration to millions, Rob Burrow MBE, was an England and Great Britain representative. He spent his entire 16-year professional career with Leeds Rhinos in the Super League, and at only 5 ft 5 in tall, Burrow was known for many years as ‘the smallest player in Super League’. Despite this, he was one of the most successful players in the competition’s history, winning eight Super League championships, two Challenge Cups, being named in the Super League Dream Team on three occasions and winning the Harry Sunderland Trophy twice!
Rob revealed in 2019 that he had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and has since earned his MBE for his services to Rugby League and the motor neurone disease community.
Bierkeller are throwing this Rugby Funday in order to celebrate Rob and help raise money for his 7 Discretionary Trust and the Rob Burrow Racing Club. Both the Trust and the Racing Club help raise awareness and funds for the MND Community.
The Good Racing Co, who aim to redefine horseracing, began fundraising for Rob with a charity racehorse in his name, Burrow Seven. This has transformed into the Rob Burrow Racing Club, and has raised nearly £180,000 for charity so far!
Brewed for Rob 🍺
Black Sheep Brewery have partnered with The Good Racing Co to launch Burrow’s Blonde – a beer brewed just for Rob. It’s a light & zesty beer focused on supporting the MND community and is available at Bierkeller in bottles as well as draught Burrows IPA.
To amplify this good work, and to support Rob and his family directly, Black Sheep Brewery branded up their newest beer as Burrow’s Blonde: where 10p from every pint or bottle goes to the Rob Burrow 7 Discretionary Trust and the Rob Burrow Racing Club.
Round up for Rob 🪙
Bierkeller are proud to announce their own Round up for Rob feature. When you buy any bottle or pint of Burrows Blonde or IPA, Bierkeller will also donate another 60p to Rob’s Trust and the Rob Burrow Racing Club. Then they also give you the option to Round up for Rob and donate an additional 30p, 60p or 90p! And don’t forget to try a one of the iconic two-pint steins full of Burrows IPA, where they’ll donate £1.20 per stein to the Rob Burrows Foundation!
Rugby Funday 🎉
On Saturday 14th October, your host and DJ will kick things off at Bierkeller from 12pm with music and interactive games, quizzes & competitions. Bierkeller have got some amazing prizes to giveaway, donated by Black Sheep Brewery, Salford Red Devils and more! Then, they’ll be showing the Rugby World Cup semi-final games at 4pm and 8pm, and, of course, the nail-biting Super League Grand Final at 6pm!
