Let the Oktoberfest celebrations begin! 🍻
Oktoberfest is a huge beer festival in Bavaria, with traditional Bavarian food, music and, of course, beer!
This incredible celebration of all things Bavarian is world-famous and this year it is the 186th Oktoberfest! The first Oktoberfest was held to celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen, and was originally only a horse race with no particular focus on beer. Now, more than 6 million people attend Oktoberfest with the total amount of beer drunk filling more than three Olympic-sized swimming pools!
It all starts with a gun salute on the first Saturday, followed by the mayor of Munich tapping the first beer keg, with the cry “O’zapft is’!”. This literally means “it is tapped!” in the Bavarian dialect. The oompah bands at Oktoberfest are famous for their unusual regional brass instruments, including the Alpenhorn, which was traditionally used as a way to calm down anxious cows around milking times in the Swiss Alps.

The Oktoberfest Bierkeller Live is here every Saturday in October bringing you that classic Bavarian Bierhaus buzz! The lederhosen-clad host will kick-start your night with Bierkeller’s twist on classic Bavarian Oompah show games and songs. Then, they’ll introduce you to the haus band who will perform your favourite classic hits to get you singing and dancing on the benches all night long! After the haus band wraps up, the afterparty begins where your host-turned DJ will keep the party going until close.
Tickets are just £20 each and includes a reserved bench and your evenings entertainment, a delicious super-sized pretzel, a mini Jager or shot of sour Schnapps and a Stein of haus bier, cider or cocktail. So if you’re looking for a stein-clinking, bench-dancing, knees-up, then get it booked!
