Live Greatness with Lionel Messi

Hard Rock Cafe is 50 years old!

To mark the occasion, Hard Rock has launched Live Greatness. It is built on the same principles that have guided Hard Rock since the beginning – providing a fresh approach and a call to its fans and customers all over the world.

Hard Rock wants to galvanize and inspire guests around the world – those that live our values and search for others to join. It is this call to unite and to Live Greatness at its finest.

To make the occasion even greater, they’ve teamed up with none other than Lionel Messi to kick it off. On the soccer field and in everyday life, Messi exemplifies Hard Rock’s values and carries Live Greatness in his actions, every day.

Update: Manchester Soul Festival 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that this year’s Manchester Soul Festival will not go ahead as planned over the August Bank Holiday as a result of ongoing uncertainties.

While we support The Christie with events throughout the year, The Manchester Soul Festival is our flagship event and we’re extremely proud to have raised over £128,000 since 2015.

The safety of our guests is always our number one priority and the current situation is too uncertain to guarantee this.

We’d like to thank the Printworks team, Soul Festival Committee members, entertainers and guests who make the event a success every single year for your understanding.

Until the next one, keep the faith.

Looney Tunes take over Printworks

The world of Looney Tunes has been unleashed on Manchester, and you can find a piece of it at Printworks!

11 classic characters including Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tasmanian Devil, have been installed by street artist Captain Kris, and we’re challenging you to find them before the end of July.

The trail covers 12 different locations across Manchester city centre including Printworks, Market Street, Spinningfields and Canal Street – happy hunting for the rest!

Appealing to both families and adults looking to relive the original movie nostalgia, the mischievous artwork will see Daffy Duck waiting for a tram at Exchange Square, Speedy Gonzalez sprinting through Spinningfields, Bugs Bunny bursting out of Primark, Porky Pig popping a pipe at Pen and Pencil, Wile E. Coyote chasing Road Runner around Symphony Park, and the Looney Tunes gang skateboarding through Deansgate Square.

You’ll have to come and see who’s in our Pump Yard! Make sure you tag us in your photos @mcrprintworks, and use #LooneyTunesXManchester to see everyone’s trails pictures!

QR codes are hidden within each piece of character art revealing a virtual map so you can find the other locations.

You’ll also have the opportunity to discover what else is new from the Looney Tunes including the Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer starring basketball star LeBron James.

Space Jam: A New Legacy will be released at Vue Printworks on 16th July 2021, and you can book your tickets online from just £4.99.

We’re Hosting A Family Friendly Online Poetry Workshop

Keep the kids entertained this half term with our family-friendly, online poetry workshop, hosted by the award-winning performance poet, Jenny Berry.

The interactive performance, due to take place via Zoom on June 2nd at 10am-12noon, will provide a taster into poetry through words and language, alongside rhyme and rap.

With the aim to create a safe space and positive experience after the impact of Covid-19, the creative word play workshop will get families with children aged primary school and above, involved in fun speaking and creative writing tasks to reveal how poetry can be used as a vehicle to express emotions.

The event will be free but is limited to 12 attendees, allocated on a first come, first served basis.

To pre-book your place for our workshop, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/manchesters-printworks-family-friendly-online-poetry-workshop-tickets-157040264659

The most Instagrammable places in Manchester

Looking to brighten up your Insta feed with some top shots from the area? We’ve got some of the most Instagrammable places in Manchester city centre in mind for you!

Northern Quarter

Just a stone’s throw from Printworks, Manchester’s Northern Quarter is a space packed with individuals who have come together to create a centre of independent businesses with unique twists. The walls are treated as tapestries for local artists, with new street art popping up constantly.

Spaces on Tib Street and Stevenson Square display the works of talented artists including Akse, LostHills and Tasha Whittle, with many pieces paying tribute to people and movements that inspire us or sharing a deeper meaning.

Retailers, bars and restaurants use their shutters and walls as a blank canvas for artists to brighten up the front, making each building unique.

This shot by @manc_wanderer perfectly captures the beauty of Lei-Mai LeMaow’s work.

Printworks

Okay, maybe we’re a little biased, but amongst the modern glass architecture of our neighbours Manchester Arndale and the National Football Museum, we’ve stayed true to our printing house roots, adding our own modern twist with our neon lights, and a mural by local artist Justin Eagleton by our Dantzic Street entrance.

And we do look good in a photo – just check out this one by @jg0r_photography:

Ancoats Marina

It can be a challenge for city centre dwellers to find a quiet spot without straying far from home, but Ancoats Marina provides a small escape from the hustle and bustle.

There are some stunning views too, making it an ideal place to get a few snaps while you’re stopping by to walk your dog or just grab some downtime.

Check out this shot by @the_manchester_edit which shows off the Marina in the glorious sunshine!

St Peter’s Square

Nope, we don’t mean the tram stop! We mean the stunning architecture surrounding it.

Manchester Central Library and Manchester Town Hall overlook the square, and the square itself has statues of Emmeline Pankhurst and the Manchester Cenotaph. The spot is steeped in history and gives you a moment to think about the people who made Manchester such a great city.

This shot from @victoriaplum37 captures the Square beautifully.

Canal Street

Our city has a proud LGBTQIA+ history, and the Canal Street area is packed with vibrant energy to reflect the rainbow Pride Flag – and it’s not a bad spot to grab a photo or two either!

Whether it’s the iconic Canal Street sign, graffiti portraits or local LGBT icons such as Drag Race’s local star Divina De Campo, or a shot of the sun sparkling off the canal you’ll have your camera out constantly when taking a stroll through the Village.

This shot by @thegaymanc shows off the huge welcome Canal Street has for anyone who wants to pop down.

John Rylands Library

While we’ve focused on the stunning outdoor spaces in Manchester, let’s take a moment to appreciate the grand indoors of John Rylands Library.

As well as the large main area that reminds us a little of Hogwarts, everywhere you look has tiny details. People have spent hours in the area taking in the building without ever making it to the books it’s home to.

While we’d highly recommend heading down there to really take it in, here’s a taster from @brittonperelman:

Best beer in the UK

Missed a drink in the pub as much as we have? You’ll be pleased to know that we’re getting stocked up in anticipation of reopening our venues on May 17th!

In the meantime, we thought we’d get our followers’ taste buds going with a reminder of the ice-cold pints waiting for them on tap! Here are the best beers in the UK, as voted for by our followers.

Budweiser

Taking the top spot we have Budweiser, with nearly 40% of our followers preferring this pale lager. We’re counting down the days until we can finally be reunited with our best buds drinking a Bud and watching the game at Bierkeller.

Carling

A proper British beer, we have Carling taking second place! Best served with some good old fashioned football and some fish and chips at Yates or The Seven Stars – what a way to spend a Saturday!

Carlsberg

In third place we have Danish beer Carlsberg, which you can enjoy at Bierkeller over a burger and a long-awaited catch up with your mates!

Fosters

And finally, we have the Aussie favourite Fosters, best enjoyed in Aussie style at Walkabout with a bit of rugby. Good call!

Honourable mention – Guinness

We couldn’t make a list of beers without mentioning the Irish classic. And if you miss pub grub and a pint of Guinness, we’re pleased to let you know you can enjoy both at O’Neill’s from May 17th!

Head to the beer garden

While we’re waiting for indoor drinking and dining to open, you can head over to Hard Rock Cafe to enjoy some cocktails and a catchup in the beer garden which is open now – get your bookings in!

Reopening for indoor drinks and dining

We’re excited to finally see you all treat yourselves to some Wagamama, Nando’s, Frankie and Benny’s and more, washed down with your favourite beers at Yates’, Bierkeller and O’Neill’s on May 17th.
