Printworks has been transformed into an under the sea utopia, with designs from 20 year old student Emily Jane White, whose amazing work now lights up Europe’s largest digital ceiling.
Emily, a Ravensbourne University London student studying Illustration for Communication, has won Printworks’ nationwide student art competition, which invited young creatives to reimagine the 1,000m² digital ceiling with an Under the Sea theme.
Her vibrant design delves deep to the ocean floor with popping pastel colours, cute clownfish, jiggling jellyfish and more, making you feel like you’ve entered into an under the sea storybook.
The design was unveiled this week as a fully animated, immersive experience with synchronised sound and motion.
Coming into her final year of university, Emily is passionate about turning her illustrative creativity into a career.
The judging panel was led by Manchester-based artist Laura Frances Heitzman, whose own artwork has previously been showcased on Printworks’ gigantic ceiling.
Emily’s winning artwork will be on display over the next month, giving visitors the chance to experience the wonders of the sea in her eye-catching illustrative style right in the heart of Manchester.
