A Virtual Love Lock Display

Hundreds of messages lit up Europe’s largest digital ceiling in a mesmerising Valentine’s tribute

A Celebration of Love

Love took centre stage in Manchester this Valentine’s Day as Printworks unveiled the city’s first-ever virtual love lock display, bringing a beloved global tradition into a digital age.

Inspired by the iconic Pont des Arts in Paris – where couples famously attach padlocks as symbols of their love – we invited visitors to leave their mark on Manchester’s skyline through an innovative, QR-code-powered experience.

From 1 – 13 February, romantic messages, heartfelt tributes, and declarations of friendship were collected and revealed in a breathtaking Valentine’s Day spectacle. Displayed across Europe’s largest digital ceiling – an awe-inspiring 1,000m² LED display with over 10.7 million pixels stretching 115 metres – each message illuminated the space in a dazzling celebration of love.

The activation saw hundreds of messages flooding in, from tearjerking proposals to cheeky inside jokes, transforming Printworks into a dazzling display of love and connection.
