Printworks is home to hundreds of staff members from waiters to managers, cleaners to security guards, with everyone helping to make your visit one to remember. So we think it’s about time to give something back to those that deserve some recognition for their hard work! Each month, we’ll be giving at least one Printworks staff member a bundle of goodies to show how much we appreciate all that they do. Whether it’s outstanding customer service or always bringing the positive vibes, our venues can nominate a fellow team mate for any reason why they think they deserve the title of Printworks Hero. We’ll even be giving out extra awards (and goodies) for special months throughout the year…

International Womens month for March ♀️

We celebrated our female Printworks staff throughout the month of March as part of International Womens Day! From those that were girl-bossing it, to those simply making every day special, there was a whole bundle of goodies given out to these Printworks Heroines.

We support all our staff members that are part of the LGTBQ+ community and are proud to offer a safe work environment to everyone at Printworks. We celebrated all the hard work that our heroes do to make this community feel welcome, both members and allies, this June!

We’ll be showing a huge selection of fixtures across our 4 main sports bars, along with a few other venues, all on the big screens. From tennis tournaments to football finals, there’s first times in history and returning favourites too!

Tennis 🎾

The French Open started in May and continues through the start of June. This tennis tournament takes place in Roland Garros, Paris with the tournament and venue named after the French aviator. It’s the premier clay court championship in the world and the only Grand Slam tournament currently held on this surface, as opposed to grass. It is the second of the four annual Grand Slam tournaments, occurring after the Australian Open and before Wimbledon and the US Open. The French Open is widely regarded as the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world!

Racing 🏁

The Grand Prix is back and we are showing every qualifier and race! We’ve already seen some amazing races take place over April and May. Coming up in June you can look forward to the Spanish Grand Prix, taking place over 66 laps of the 4.675km Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain. This year’s Canadian Grand Prix takes place over 70 laps of the 4.361km Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal. Heading into July, it’s the Austrian Grand Prix taking place over 71 laps of the 4.318km Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Then we welcome one of the oldest and most prestigious races in Formula 1 history: the British Grand Prix! Taking place over 52 laps of the 5.891km Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire.

Football ⚽

We’re wrapping up the football with plenty of epic final matches! It’s a Manchester Derby for this year’s FA Cup final, for the first time in football history! Both halves of Manchester will return to Wembley Stadium on 3 June for a 3pm kick-off. With 2 rival teams playing in the final we want to welcome all fans, but we know how thing can get a little heated! So we’ve decided to make it easier for everyone and provide separate United and City fan zones so make sure you check where your team’s zone is when you book.

It’s another big match for Manchester City, hoping to win the final of the UEFA Champions League against Inter Milan on June 10th, kicking off at 8pm. Victory for City would make them the 23rd club to win the European Cup. The Cityzens have come close on several occasions in recent years but have never gone the distance, reaching four semi-finals and one final. Three-time winners Inter Milan last lifted the trophy in 2010, when José Mourinho’s team ended a 45-year wait for Europe’s top prize by beating Bayern in Madrid.

Fiorentina and West Ham United meet at the Eden Arena in Prague to contest the second UEFA Europa Conference League final on June 7th at 8pm. Both clubs have European trophies on their list of achievements, each having won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the 1960’s. Seventh in the 2021/22 Premier League, West Ham therefore ensured a second successive European campaign after going all the way to the semi-finals of last season’s UEFA Europa League. Fiorentina are the highest scorers in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa Conference League, group stage to final, their tally of 36 goals nine more than West Ham’s and also a new competition record, surpassing last season’s high of 28 managed by both finalists, Roma and Feyenoord.

We also see the start to the qualifying matches for the UEFA Euro 2024, with 23 finals berths to be filled via the European Qualifiers which run from March to November 2023, and via play-offs scheduled for March 2024. Three-time winners Germany will stage the UEFA European Championship with the final tournament scheduled to take place from 14 June to 14 July 2024. Catch Malta against England and Wales against Armenia on June 16th.

Boxing 🥊

One of Britain’s best young boxing prospects Adam Azim will face Ukrainian Aram Faniian at London’s historic York Hall to fight for the Super Lightweight Boxing Championship. The talented 21-year-old will make a sizeable step-up in class against the accomplished Ukrainian, who has 22 victories with just one defeat ahead of their super-lightweight showdown taking place on June 10th at 10pm.

Cricket 🏏

It wouldn’t be summer without a spot of cricket! England are to play at home in the five-match Test series against Australia, hoping to regain the Ashes after their defeat down under. The men’s Ashes will be contested between June 16 to July 31, with Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford and The Oval set to host the Tests. England also announced the schedule of the multi-format women’s Ashes series, including the first-ever five-day Test match for the England women’s team on home soil!

Horse Racing 🏇

From 20th – 24th June, you can indulge in world-class horse racing with The Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. Steeping in history, it’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up and cheer on the winning steed. The third day of Royal Ascot, Thursday 22nd June, is known as Ladies Day and is a feast for the eyes with high fashion and millinery masterpieces!

We are celebrating Pride Month all throughout June!

Pride Month kicks off in the UK on the 1st of June and is the biggest and most diverse celebration in the LGBTQ+ calendar. Pride celebrates the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) people as a social group and community. We are proud to support this community and always strive to make them feel welcome here at Printworks.

Printworks Heroes 🏅

We support all our staff members that are part of the LGTBQ+ community and are proud to offer a safe work environment to everyone at Printworks. We’ll be celebrating all the hard work that our heroes do to make this community feel welcome, both members and allies alike! We’ll be giving out some well-earned goodies to several nominated team members this month, including a £40 One4All gift card. Keep an eye out on our socials for staff reaction videos and reasons why this month’s Printworks Heroes were nominated by their fellow team members.

Even though the Manchester Pride Festival isn’t until later on in the year (25th-28th August), Printworks are still celebrating pride month throughout June to show our support along with our venues…

Hard Rock Cafe are celebrating with new special edition Pride merch including rainbow guitar t-shirts and a Rainbow Pride Pin, available for a limited time only in the Rock Shop! The beautiful guitar pin has the full spectrum of the rainbow and would look amazing on your bag or jacket to show your support, celebrating All is One! You can show your pride this month (and every other month) by wearing  one of Hard Rock’s classic white tee with guitars in every colour to represent the pride flag.

Frankie & Benny’s are celebrating pride month with a weekend full of fun and colours! The weekend of 16th-18th June, all their team members, managers and all, will be dressing up in bright colours and rainbows complete with wristbands and stickers so that all customers know they welcome the LGBTQ+ community. They’ll also be raising money for MindOut, a mental health service run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) people. They work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern. So keep an eye out for those donation boxes and you can help make a change towards a better all-inclusive Manchester!

Events 🎟️

What better way to welcome the community and celebrate all things pride than a whole host of events! We’ve got plenty of brunches for you to choose from with a wonderful selection of food offering and entertainment from renowned drag artists!

Chiquito are hosting a Bottomless Mexican Brunch for a one-off event, exclusive to Printworks! It’s going to be THE brunch event of the summer with tex-mex feasts, bottomless bevs and awesome drag artist entertainment – it’s gonna be a whole new MEX-perience!

Known for their fiery flavours and fiesta vibes, Chiquito is the place to go for that kick of Mexican that’s missing in our lives! They are going all out with their new brunch event in the hopes that it will be become a regular event throughout the summer too – so you can look forward to more Mexican mornings!

Chiquito’s New Brunch Event launches on Saturday 3rd June, open from 12pm and serving bottomless brunch till 2:30pm. Hosted by the one and only Tequila Thirst with special guests Lady Bushra and Coco Deville! 

Gimme gimme gimme a drink after midnight with Manchester’s first after hours bottomless brunch at Cargo! Some of us aren’t morning people so Cargo have delayed their brunch start time to midnight. Launching on the 1st july with the first theme being Mamma Mia. This event will be hosted inside the bunker at cargo where it will come to life with greek decor, abba tribute, a brunch host, mini games and photo ops. Get out the glitter and sequins, Boom Battle Bar are celebrating Pride with a month of fabulous brunches hosted by some of the UK’s best drag queens!

The Big BOOM Pride Brunch features live entertainment from Drag Queens and an epic resident DJ spinning the tunes. As well as including 90 minutes of bottomless bangin’ drinks, we’re talking cocktails, fizz and draft beer & cider, and a street food feast!

Boom’s Pride Brunch not only tastes good, but it does good too! They have proudly partnered with the charity Stonewall this month. For every single Pride brunch booking throughout June, they’ll donate £5 to support Stonewall’s vital work with the LGBTQ+ community! Available every Saturday in June, book now for either the 2pm or 4pm sitting.

They are also introducing a limited edition cocktail – Pride Royale! For the month of June, the Pride cocktail made with Tanqueray will be served with a rainbow strip sweet and for every one sold during, they’ll donate another 50p to Stonewall!

Ever wondered what Pride looks like on the big screen? This. Exactly this. From fan favourites to award winners, Vue have got an iconic line-up this June. But that’s not all! They’ll also be taking donations for Stonewall at their concession stands and their payment provider Adyen will be DOUBLING anything you contribute! PRIDE
A multi-award-nominated true story with an all-star cast. It’s about a group of gay and lesbian activists who raise money to help families affected by the British miner’s strike in 1984. Starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Dominic West. If you’re not going to watch a film called Pride during Pride month, when else are you going to watch it?

MOONLIGHT
The Best Picture winner at the 2017 Oscars and the film that changed the game for under-represented LGBTQIA+ stories. This coming-of-age drama takes us through the three defining chapters of a young black man’s life in Miami – and it hits so, so hard. With poignant storytelling, next-level performances and visuals to make you weep – how could anyone watch this just once?

THE BIRDCAGE
Robin Williams and Nathan Lane deliver iconic comedy gold in this 1996 classic. They play a married gay couple who pretend to be straight so their son can introduce them to his financee’s right-wing parents. As you’d expect, chaos ensues! Never had the chance to catch this one on the big screen? Well now you can properly lol with a full audience.

CAROL
Rooney Mara falls hopelessly in love with Cate Blanchett after clocking her in a 1950s department store. Can’t exactly blame her, can you? This multi-award-winning romance should be a Pride month staple. Forbidden love tales don’t get much classier and stylish than this. It may be set at Christmas, but who cares? We’d watch it all year round.

LOVE, SIMON 
An instant hit when it was released in 2018, and still a massive fan favourite. A highschooler (yes, named Simon) contemplates coming out to his friends and family after falling for an anonymous classmate online. Overwhelming anxiety naturally follows… While offering a terrifying insight into the world of online paranoia and the fear of coming out, it’s somehow incredibly easygoing!

So head down to Printworks to show your support for the LGBTQ+ community!

The Manchester Flower Festival is back in full bloom! 🌼🌷🌹

The city keeps blooming with Manchester BID’s flagship Summer event… The Manchester Flower Festival! This year it falls on the final May Bank Holiday weekend Friday 26th– Monday 29th May. The festival will fill the streets with floral displays, street art, gardens and markets in and around the central shopping area. There’ll be outdoor dining from alfresco bars to street food, with plenty of cocktails and live music to bring people into the city for the whole weekend.

🎶They work hard for the honey, so hard for the honey!🎶

Printworks is home to four beehives located on our rooftop, each with their own Queen Bee and a total of 100,000 honey bees that all produce Printworks Honey! In association with Hard Rock Cafe, we have been pleased to donate over £3,000 from the sales of their honey to local Manchester charities! This year, Printworks have chosen to celebrate our glorious Rooftop Bees with our Flower Festival entry, along with special honey-themed events…

Honeyworks Bee Garden 🐝🌺🌼

Our Printworks bees are busy making delicious honey up in our rooftop hives and we think they deserve a refreshing cup of nectar after a hard day’s work! Now they can fly down to their favourite local pollination stations that make up the Honeyworks Bee Garden and catch up with all the latest buzz. With the help of Giraffe Flowers, we’ve transformed our 7 outside planters on Withy Grove, filling them with all our honeybees’ favourite flowers & plants, along with honeycomb inspired displays and gold bee ornaments. See if you can spot our little friends relaxing in the Honeyworks Bee Garden throughout The Manchester Flower Festival!

Adopt a Bee & raise money for Forever Manchester

Fancy bee-coming an adoptive parent or gifting to the honey in your life? We’re home to more than 100,000 honey bees and four queen bees – so there’s more than enough! Our Adopt a Bee campaign is raising money in aid of Forever Manchester and the great work they do to support our communities. They raise money to fund and support more than 1,000 community projects across Greater Manchester each year. Head to our Just Giving page to adopt a bee and donate.

Honeyworks Taster Events 🍹🍸🍯

Fancy a taste of the sweet life?  Get buzzed for our Honeyworks Taster Events as part of the Manchester Flower Festival! We’ll be hosting a bee-keeping experience, situated up on our rooftop garden, followed by a tasting session with Decorrum & a cocktail masterclass at Floripa! We are hosting 4 x 2 hour sessions across 2 dates throughout the Festival on Friday 26th May at 4pm & 5pm and Saturday 27th May at 12pm & 1pm. Tickets are available to purchase on Design my Night with all ticket sales contributing towards Forever Manchester donations.

The whole centre will be closed from 1am until 12pm on Tuesday 7th March, due to urgent power works in the area.

Nuffield Health and Wetherspoon will be open from the later time of 12pm.

All other venues will be open as usual, from 12pm.

It’s all coming together as the First LED Screen goes Live!

The renovations here at Printworks are well underway and digitalisation is the key! As part of the extensive upgrade, ADI have installed the first in a series of large-format LED screens and digital signage.

ADI are a British company with 30-year’s experience in spectacular LED technologies, event production and creative content services, which are used worldwide. They develop pioneering, future-proof concepts by some of the biggest names in sport, live entertainment and retail, to inspire viewers and excite crowds, or transform spaces and public places.

For those less tech-savvy Printworks patrons, you may not have noticed the new screen as it has simply replaced the existing digital display above the main entrance on Withy Grove. However, the new 112m² screen is larger with a higher resolution and is part of Ocean Outdoors’ DOOH network. It features ADI’s new 6mm MT Series product, ensuring this prominent platform will now offer exceptional image quality and clarity for full-motion adverts!

With Printworks enjoying around 8 million visitors annually, and significant passing footfall, the screen is a premium site for brands targeting affluent consumers, tourists and city-workers. There will be big brand advertising as well as updates & events from Printworks itself, all displayed above the entrance.

As you may or may not know, it is ADI who are delivering the extensive digital installation programme across the exterior and interior of Printworks. So you can expect more of the same high-quality display when the new digital ceiling is unveiled!

This year, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hard Rock Cafe is teaming up with world-renowned French Chef and breast cancer survivor, Dominique Crenn & the Hard Rock Heals Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness & research. In partnership with Crenn, Hard Rock Cafe will create limited-time menu items, exclusively available at Hard Rock Cafes, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting national and local breast cancer charities. 🥰

Have you heard about Chef Dominique Crenn?

Dominique Crenn is currently the only female chef in the United States to attain three Michelin Stars for her restaurant Atelier Crenn, in San Francisco, California. She’s not just a chef and restaurateur. She’s an entrepreneur, a best-selling author, an activist, and a breast cancer survivor. Recognized as a leader in gastronomic storytelling, Crenn is the first and only female in the United States ever awarded Three Michelin Stars and one of only five in the world with as many stars. Diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2019, Crenn underwent eight months of chemotherapy and while she is currently in remission, she knows first-hand that together, not only are we stronger but that we can also make a difference.

Time to Eat with Your Eyes…

Together, Hard Rock Cafe and Chef Crenn have created Baja Style Shrimp Tacos as their limited-time menu item. These delicious tacos are full of big flavours for a big cause. Three achiote-marinated shrimp tacos, topped with charred salsa roja, pickled red onions, spicy pepitas, avocado and shredded cabbage on warm corn torillas. I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing! 🌮

Cheers to Perfect Parings!

In addition to their tacos, they have also created a new limited-time cocktail, sweetly named Paloma. A refreshing classic Mexican cocktail that perfectly complements the spicy flavours of the Shrimp Tacos. Patrón Tequila with grapefruit juice, agave syrup and a hint of lime, all topped with club soda. Perfecto! 👌

What’s in the Rock Shop?

Hard Rock International is offering uniquely designed, limited-edition merchandise in support of breast cancer awareness and research, which includes a PINKTOBER-themed Hard Rock t-shirt and a newly designed PINKTOBER pin.

Not only will you look stunning in Pink this October, but through the Hard Rock Heals Foundation, a percentage of all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research also!

This October Wagamama will be a warm space for guests to find comfort, calm & positivity – to embrace the bowl and warm your soul!

So what’s on the menu?

Gotta have some of those New Gyoza…

There’s a new gyoza joining the family! These tasty steamed Japanese dumplings are a must-have accompaniment to any meal and now there is the addition of Salmon Gyoza! Delicious salmon marinated in a sweet teriyaki sauce and served with the classic tangy gyoza sauce.

And with the ever popular veggie option of the Yasai Gyoza, Wagamama have decided to give this dumpling a bit of a winter refresh and they now come steamed with the addition of amazing green gyoza skins!

Reach for a New Ramen to Soothe the Soul…

Introducing a twist on the classic: the Gyoza Ramen. Two icons in one bowl! Choose from vegetable or chicken gyoza, on a bed of noodles in a rich broth so you can invigorate the body with the freshest bowls.

Chicken Gyoza Ramen comes with steamed chicken gyoza, ramen noodles, roasted bok choi, a tea-stained egg, chilli sambal paste, spring onions, coriander, and chilli oil all served in a vegetable broth with a side of gyoza sauce. This dish is full of flavour and with a hint of spice from the chilli sambal, that’ll be sure to keep you feeling warm and cosy this Autumn!

For a lighter, meat-free option you can go for the Yasai Gyoza Ramen which comes with refreshed yasai gyoza, udon noodles, roasted bok choi, chilli sambal paste, spring onions, coriander, and chilli oil all in a vegetable broth with side of gyoza sauce. This dish is not only a great source of fibre but it’s also under 600 calories!

Why Not Pair with a Winter Warmer…

Wagamama’s have spiced up their beloved juices to make a new creation – the Panchi! Try their positive juice paired with spiced rum or their high five juice paired with coconut rum – this is set to be a real sweet treat!

There’s two new additions from the Northern Brewing Co including the award-winning vegan IPA Transmission – a soft and juicy lager with a deep tropical flavour and crisp pine bitterness. As well as Atlantis which is a non-gluten and vegan pale ale that’s light & bright, with a vibrant citrus flavour bursting with sweetness and a bitter finish.

For all the taste without the buzz, there’s Days lager – a 0% alcohol lager that is the perfect addition to the menu. This vegan lager is crispy and clean with floral and citrus notes.

As well as their new lagers, the original lucky buddha just got a lot more sustainable too! Wagamama have collaborated with the supplier and now the new lucky buddha is brewed and canned right here in the UK!

Finish strong with a Tasty Treat!

Try the new yuzu & lemon cheesecake for a sweet and citrus fruity dessert. Not only is it gluten free but it’s also vegan!

For the ultimate one bite dessert experience try the dough.chi – ice cream balls wrapped in cookie dough! With mix & match flavours there’s no combination you won’t enjoy! Choose from coconut, white chocolate & matcha, or  cherry, vanilla & yuzu.
