For the first time ever, the 48 Hour Film Project is coming to Manchester – and Printworks is proud to be the official home of this high-speed, high-stakes filmmaking challenge.

From 13–15 June 2025, teams across the city will race against the clock to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 48 hours. No sleep. No limits. Just pure creativity. Then, just days later, films will premiere in front of a live audience at Vue Cinema, right here at Printworks.

🏆 Films will compete for local awards, with the top pick going on to Filmapalooza 2026 – and potentially the Cannes Short Film Corner.

Manchester Flower Festival

Over the Bank Holiday Weekend, we teamed up with Manchester CityCo to bring a show-stopping activation to this year’s Manchester Flower Festival.

Our World in Bloom installation transformed Printworks into a spectacular celebration of colour and creativity. A towering 5-metre tulip took centre stage beneath Europe’s largest digital ceiling, brought to life with bespoke, balloon-led visuals.

Visitors also got hands-on with free bouquet-making sessions hosted by Manchester’s very own independent florist, David Wayman — adding a personal touch to an unforgettable experience.

Ruby Wax’s Frazzled has launched The Feeling Ceiling – an interactive digital sky on Europe’s largest ceiling screen (900m²) at Printworks. It uses weather-inspired visuals to reflect your mood and get people talking about mental health.

Tap a touchscreen to choose how you’re feeling – anxious, stressed, tearful, brainfoggy – and watch clouds, lightning or rain bring it to life above your head. A sunny sky shows how a chat with Frazzled can brighten your day.
